Welcome to Alyce Photography!
My goal is to provide beautiful lifestyle photography that feels authentic, relaxed, and invaluable. From family moments to small events, I’m passionate about telling your story and capturing all the feels through candid images, which can then be revisited over, and over again.

A Little About Me

Hi, I’m Sarah! (she/her)

I come from a family of artists, and my passion for the visual arts was encouraged from a young age. My parents collected “old” cameras and around 11, when I got frustrated with not being able to draw faces well enough to capture their true essence, I picked up one of those cameras and got started. I moved from Ottawa to Victoria in 2010 and that’s when my photography business began to take shape.


I moved to Vancouver in 2013, where I attended Langara College for Photography. It was an incredible school where I picked up a lot of valuable skills, but I missed the island life and beautiful vistas, so I returned in 2016.


Since then, my photography style has matured and my passion grown, but my goal stays the same. I love love in all forms, whether it’s between family members, partnerships, or friendships; I aim to capture that emotion and have it felt through a single image.

I offer a range, including but not limited to lifestyle photography for families, individuals, couples, and pets; as well as, elopements, engagements, and other small events such as baby showers, birthdays, gender reveals, etc.

Absolutely! I’m happy to work with you to create a custom photography package that meets your specific needs and budget.

Pricing varies depending on the type of photography service you require and the length of time needed. Please contact me for a personalized quote.

Alyce is my middle name, as well as my great-grandmother’s name. Not only do I beleive it’s a beautiful name, but from the stories I’ve been told, she stood for love, family and strength, and I wanted that represented in the name of my photography business. But, I don’t mind also being referred to as Alyce (pronounced Ah-lease).

To finalized your booking, a deposit to hold the date & time, is required. Your balance can be paid at any time, but will be due the day of the shoot, but prior to commencing.


For minis, a 50% deposit ($75) is required to hold your time slot.


A 48hr notice for cancellation is required for a deposit refund (to be returned within 48hrs). If a cancellation in required within the 48hr window, that deposit is no longer refundable. 


If you would like to try and re-schedule, I’m happy to accommodate as much as I can, within our availability. If we cannot find a time to re-schecule right away, the deposit will count towards your next booking, up to one year from the original shoot date, no carry-overs.


Extenuating circumstances will be considerd on a case-by-case basis. 

All deposits and payments are made, and refunded, via e-transfers. (alycephotography@gmail.com - auto deposit enabled)

With Alyce Photography, you get a great experience while keeping it simple. Many photographers have the ability to offer hair + makeup and wardrobe selections. Because those are not currently services I’m able to offer as part of your experience, I’ve represented that in my costs.


I’ve heard from my clients that they enjoy the relaxed and casual nature of our sessions. This helps you to feel more comfortable, allowing for your genuine self and connections to shine through. This, with some gentle posing suggestions will create authentic and beautifully captured moments.

If there’s a specific location that you enjoy, or that has special meaning to you, your family, or within your partnership, I would love to try and capture that energy, whether it’s an urban or natural setting. I love shooting in new locations and checking out client suggestions.


If you would like some recommendations on natural locations with great views and nice light, I have a few favourites:

You can wear whatever you want! I’m up for whatever kind of vibe you want to bring to our shoot!

However, if you’re looking for guidance, here are some tips:

  • In regards to clothing, you want to think block / solid colours or simple patterns. If you’re with a partner or in a group, the colours should be similar or complimentary. I’ve included some colour examples in the next section down. 
  • You may want to avoid all wearing the same thing, or matching items. Although it‘s not a hard and fast rule - it can look cute sometimes. You may also want to avoid  wearing loud / “crazy“ patterns or bright neons.
  • Wear clothing items and shoes that you feel comfortable in, and that your kids will feel comfortable in. It usually shows in photos if someone’s looking uncomfortable or fidgeting with annoying fabric, etc.
  • For family portrait sessions with a younger child, or children, think about bringing their favourite story book or toy, a picnic blanket (should follow the same colour / pattern rules as clothing, and be complimentary and comfortable), or a fun prop like a bubble machine or kite! Toys or objects that keep a child’s attention on something are best.
  • During the shoot; play together, smile, joke, tickle, make silly faces to each other, make your little ones giggle, high five, hold hands, and offer lots of hugs, snuggles, and kisses. The best moments are when you‘re fully present with your loved ones and forget the camera‘s even there.
